Correction in Aadhar Card

In order to facilitate easy update and change of details in Aadhar Card, UIDAI has started the “Aadhar Self Service Update Portal” which makes things extremely convenient. With the use of this portal, one may now change their details including wrong date of birth, name and gender. The change in address can also be done online. To avail this, one must first login using their respective Aadhar number and then through an OTP which is sent on the mentioned mobile number. There is also a provision to check the status of the update request. These simple steps may lead one to update their Aadhar card details:

  1. Go to - https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update
  2. One must click on ‘Send OTP’ only after one enters the Aadhar Number mentioned on one’s Aadhar Card. A text message is later sent that contains the One Time Password (OTP-which is only valid for 15 minutes). This is sent on the mobile number given. In case the Aadhar details lack a mobile number, the website asks for a number on which the details are to be sent.
  3. After entering the text which was sent as the OTP, one must naturally click the button that says ‘Login’.
  4. One is later requested to check the fields which he/she wishes to make changes to and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  5. After entering the updates on respective fields, one must click on the ‘Submit Update Request’ button.
  6. Another screenshot appears which asks the users to recheck whether they are satisfied with the data entered. They may choose to renter the values or click on proceed if they are satisfied.
  7. The next screenshot is the confirmation of the changes and its proof, after the previous steps, the website asks you to furnish a valid proof of the changes requested. This may be presented through a valid document that certifies the changes that you wish to seek. This may be done by presenting a scanned copy of the relevant document. After selecting the document, one must wait for the upload to complete and then, click on the submit button to finish this step.
  8. After this step, the website will accept the details and shall show you a page accepting this request. The screenshot shall also present you an ‘Update Request Number’ (URN) which will be a unique code to identify your request. The same URN is also sent as a text message on the registered mobile network. One must keep hold of this number as this would be instrumental in accessing the status of the update request. One may download the request receipt through a pdf file which the website generates on request
  9. One may then ‘Logout’.
  10. URN and Aadhar Numbers help you trace the request.
